I hope someone can help me. This morning, as I was printing, the printer would not print and told me to switch off and call a service agent. This is the second time in a month and I repeated the thing I did last time. ie switch off and start again and cross my fingers. I had to change one cartridge out. The printer did print again but the colours were off in a way they haven't been before; I get my ICC profiles done by Fotospeed [who are in the middle of moving to new premises. I checked my calibration was ok - did it only 2 days ago and the spider confirmed it was ok - I also ran the check that the heads were clear yesterday and no drama there..

Does anybody have any experience of this? We are away soon and this is going to poke at me if I can't get it sussed or at least have a plan for when I get back.

Ciao

Fingers crossed.

Can I ask, have you done a nozzle check print?

Though I know nowt of this specific printer, whenever I read of 'colours being off' my first thought is "are the nozzles all clear & printing, as 'colours being off' suggests (on the light of printer error warning,/codes) one or more colours (whatever the level monitor says) could be blocked?

That and error printout. The older IPF would just give you a code. I'm sure these still have to be accessible. But in some this will head related

Hi there - yes I did that - my first checkpoint. All good. I have just calibrated again, making sure the bright point was low-mid range. I am reprinting now, hoping it was this and not related to the service agent instruction. Fingers crossed. And for LLP - there was no error code - odd eh? And breathe as I go back to the office.....

An/the other cause of weird colours is AFAIK 'double profiling' i.e. software(e.g. Photoshop) manages colour but the printer too is set to manage colours.

Other than that suggestion, clearly nothing to do with the printer throwing a wobbly, I cannot think of anything! So, best of luck finding a solution:)

Hi. Thanks for that too. My most recent print is much brighter, following recalibration. Colours not right so I think this is a case of needing to get a new set of profiles. On reflection, I have printed quite a limited colour palette over the last couple of years plus a lot of mono. I will get the profiles done while we are away, if I can. Bit of a faff when anticipating getting a new set up in September. Another notion occurred to me as well, perhaps having to change the yellow cartridge and the timing of it triggered this 'service agent' instruction.

Thanks to all who chipped in.

Having chatted with Tim at Fotospeed this morning, he thinks the same soo a set of profile prints are off to Wiltshire today. The printer did not have a wobbler today so hopefully this will sort it .

Well, back to square 1. We returned from our break. I uploaded the new profiles. Sent a colour image to the printer. Same error message - call service agent' which means that the print function is not available. I switched off. Started it up again. No message. Sent it to the printer again. Colours still off. :headbang:

And the winner was.... Thanks to Tim at Fotospeed. He suggested uninstalling the printer and then uploaded an updated driver. Result!
