Yes
Canon have just increased prices by 11%. I bought the 100-400 Mk 11 today at the old price thus avoiding paying £200 more. This morning it was £1795 where I bought it, post 2.00pm it was £2000. I was about to be charged that £2000 when I pointed out to the salesman that I'd checked it earlier on their website at £1795. I was about to walk away but some negotiations went on with someone via telephone and I got it for the price it was on their website at 2 hours before I bought it.The salesman wasn't aware of the change and was taken aback. My argument was that the stock they had was bought in at the old price. Anyway, they were very good and sympathised and more importantly, agreed. They will benefit from my custom again.

I recall Canon doing this many years ago when the Yen appreciated against the $. That rise amounted to 15%.This time sterling dipped 16% at it's low point re. Brexit but has pulled back some. On holiday couple of weeks ago we got 1.10€ It's now 1.17€ so that's 6% clawed back to a 10% decrease. Should it gain more will companies like Canon ie. Apple who have done the same (also an 11% increase) reduce prices ? A rhetorical question ,we all know the answer

exchange is low at the moment & suppliers must be out of old stock by now or really low stock levels ...

The Mk II was announced in November 2014

Here's how the Pound has performed against the Yen since then.

11% looks quite reasonable

Have a nosey on CameraPriceBuster at any lens or popular camera, they're pretty much all going up steadily. A lot of gear bought new early this year is now worth the same amount on the used market.

For what it's worth, the 100-400mm MkII is still under £1800 at a few retailers that have stock, £1767 on Amazon UK.

Do you expect SRPs to change on a weekly basis according to currency fluctuations? They will price in their expectations of future volatility when they adjust their UK SRPs like this.

On that basis, I'd say Canon are being fairly optimistic with just an 11% rise.

I'd also imagine that most of the large companies hedge their currency to give a bit of stability to their srp as well

Scary isn't it! We are a nation built on imports the weakness of the pound is going to hit all our pockets!

I bet you would now love a viable UK or German optics manufacturer or bare minimum a Canon factory over here...

5D mkIV and even 5DsR remain just a dream for me at the moment because of this :(
