Canon have just increased prices by 11%. I bought the 100-400 Mk 11 today at the old price thus avoiding paying £200 more. This morning it was £1795 where I bought it, post 2.00pm it was £2000. I was about to be charged that £2000 when I pointed out to the salesman that I'd checked it earlier on their website at £1795. I was about to walk away but some negotiations went on with someone via telephone and I got it for the price it was on their website at 2 hours before I bought it.The salesman wasn't aware of the change and was taken aback. My argument was that the stock they had was bought in at the old price. Anyway, they were very good and sympathised and more importantly, agreed. They will benefit from my custom again.
I recall Canon doing this many years ago when the Yen appreciated against the $. That rise amounted to 15%.This time sterling dipped 16% at it's low point re. Brexit but has pulled back some. On holiday couple of weeks ago we got 1.10€ It's now 1.17€ so that's 6% clawed back to a 10% decrease. Should it gain more will companies like Canon ie. Apple who have done the same (also an 11% increase) reduce prices ? A rhetorical question ,we all know the answer
