Ha, just got one ordered and should get it in the next few days. The worst thing is though, I can only have it for half an hour to test it before it goes into the Christmas present draw and I have to wait a couple of months till it surfaces again. Ooh, so near and yet so far.
 
loads of frustration on Christmas day - Have you got a MT-24EX for it as well ?
 
No, I've got a ringflash that I use on the 100L and I've got the right size step up ring for the mp-e though. Will have to wait and see where that gets me, or wait till my birthday in August for the MT-24EX. Here's hoping.
 
I think I'd advise leaving the MP-E in the drawer until August too.

Apparently with the mpe, the issue with ringflash is that subjects can end up inside the ring so don't get lit properly.

Yeah I realise that but if necessary I'll take it off the front and make up an off camera rig. Not a massive problem when I've been in engineering instrument design for a while. Looking forward to it anyway. even if it only comes out on nice days.
 
Just wish I could afford to get one new, and there are so few going second hand.

I put a thread on the wanted list and it took less than a day for someone to let me know of one available in mint condition. And at a reasonable price. By the time you've made enough posts to get on the classifieds section you might of saved up enough for one. There's a few floating about around the £500 mark.

Just got the lens this morning, and as it's nice and sunny I thought I'd gie it a quick test. It's quite windy today though so it was difficult to get any real good ones, but I think I've got a good enough idea how it'll go. Took a couple inside of a sweet wrapper and it looks like an alien landscape. Awesome!!!
