Canon mirrorless lens recommendations for safari trip

That is all true. I was merely trying to help the OP see the wood rather than the trees but as you can see above, my assumption about why he was going was erroneous and I have changed my opinions. He IS going for the photography and therefore should take as much gear as he considers necessary, I was originally just trying to lighten the load.
I know, was being over dramatic mostly for humour.

I think it's possible to enjoy both i.e. photography and the experience, doesn't need to be mutually exclusive.

pretty much anything and everything has been photographed now

Actually, it's worse than I thought, I have even seen pictures of the inside of my large intestine including the entrance to my appendix and radio-opaque pictures of my coronary arteries. I have seen x-rays of my lungs and oesophagus and, from decades ago, pictures of the bones in my feet from when I used to go for shoe fittings at a very early age and when I had a motorbike accident 10 years ago. We have pictures of the earliest galaxies courtesy of Hubble, images from the bottom of the ocean, even pictures of atoms and black holes. War, peace marches, atom bombs. The rarest creatures on the planet.

It does seem to be pointless after all...but we keep going as there is only one alternative I suppose and no one has got a picture of that; yet.. :)

It would be good idea to take 2 bodies and have both ready one with wide / standard the other with longer lens. You just don't have much time to swap sometimes and you may not even want to in dusty environment
