hi every one
could someone help , will a EF lens work on my 450d or should i stick to EF-S?
im thinking of getting a EF 100mm is this a good choice?
thanks for your help

The EF-S lenses are fine for your camera, but if you are thinking that long term you may change to a full frame then you need to stick to the EF, or have huge pockets with lots of spare change.

My first question really is what are you wanting to photograph? This may affect the choice of lens.

thanks for the replys
i was thinking of this lens for its image quality over a zoom lens more than any thing.
am i right in thinking that would be true

The lens is a good one, but if you want to take wildlife pics, 100mm won't be long enough. If you want a lens to stick on the end of your camera and wander about, this won't be versatile enough. Think about what you really want to shoot. There are some good lenses out there that will give you a good IQ and be more versaile.

only had the camera a fortnight so im looking at adding to the kit 18-55.
the macro on the 100mm is a bonus

Perhaps it might be best to play with it a little longer, so that you can identify what it is, exactly, that you want to get out of your photography kit and so that you can identify what it is you really want to buy.
