Canon Lens Advice

Hello everyone,

I would like to refresh some of my lenses, and would like some thoughts / advice as to what may be suitable.

I shoot weddings and have the following glass:
17-40mm L
24-70mm L
70-200 2.8 L
85mm 1.8
100mm 2.8 macro

I am looking at upgrading to the 70-200mm 2.8 IS II, adding a 24mm 1.4 mk II or 35mm 1.4 L and a 50mm 1.4.

What do you think? I am still undecided whether to opt for the 24mm or 35mm. Would there be other lenses to consider that I have not mentioned?

Have a look at the shots with the 24-70mm and the 17-40mm and see which focal lengths you use most... that should help decide.
 
If you're going to be shooting weddings professionally people usually recommend having a second body to go with a set of lenses. I have a 70-200 2.8 IS II and a 50 1.4 and both of them are excellent. My 50 1.4 is loads better than my 50 1.8 ever was and there's a marked improvement in the 70-200 MkII compared to the MkI, specially wide open.

I also have an 85 1.8, 100 L macro and a 35 f2 and I've managed to shoot everything with those. Would you really need to go for the 24 1.4 or the 35 1.4 if you have the 24-70 L.

I have recently bought a 5D3 and will be purchasing another shortly.

How do you find the 35 f2? Is it a lens you use a lot? And if so, in what situations?

I would like to move to primes but will keep the 24-70 in the bag if needed.

Oh, and does anyone have experience of using the 50 1.2 & 1.4. Is the 1.2 really any better?

TBH I rarely use all the primes as most of my subjects are wildlife and aviation, but I got the 35, 50 and 85 for the occasions I shoot concerts, family parties etc when I had some spare cash. I find the 35 f2 a great lens on FF and crop cause it gives consistently good sharp shots and for the price I paid for it makes it a bargain.

Another decent lens is the 40mm STM pancake, I got one for the wife to go with her 650D but I occasionally nick it for indoor shots on my 5D3. It usually fast enough for natural light in the day and gives a pleasing background blur when wide open.
 
Also i'm assuming there must be information out there comparing the canon 35L against the f/2. I'll see if I can find anything, however if anyone has any links at hand they could post that would be appreciated.
