Canon i9950 and compatible inks

Hi Guys

We have this printer and has not been used for ages as Photobox came around! I want to start using it again but not really at the price of Canons inks if I can help it. My wife also wants to use it for some school thing she is doing. (she is a deputy head not a pupil :lol:)

Has anyone got this printer and used compatible inks?

If so, can you recommend a seller for them?

I have seen a couple on ebay £9.99 for 8 inks. Too good to be true? :suspect:

I've got a canon i950 which isn't close but it is in numbers.. I've used numerous places and found that IJTDirect are ok with quick delivery. Cheap enough if you go for compatibles. On Ebay , 8 for £10 is bound to be compatables !
 
When I started using them I thoroughly cleaned all the heads after using Canon originals and before I put the compats in and haven't had any problem. Can't tell the difference tbh !
 
When I use to have a Canon i850 I use to only use compatible inks. I had a few more clogs then with Canon (that is to say I had one clog with the after market, and none with the canon), but the colours were the same with prints (pretty much the same experience as I have had with aftermarket inks with my current Epson 1290).

I use to run 50-70 A4 and 200 or so printable DVDs through the printer a month.
 
Hmmm - spend a grand or more on a camera, another grand plus on lenses, up to a grand for a computer to handle the processing and storage, £500 on a top quality printer, then risk putting any old crap through the printer to save a few quid on ink?

Where's the sense in that?

Inkraider do Canon inks for under £5 each, and they last a long time even on A3 prints - sorry, but I think compatibles are a false economy

My, Canon ink only, i9950 is still going strong after 4 years use - including 3x a 5,000+ letter mailshot. No way am I going to show it crap to eat in reward

2 of my mates have the same printer and use compatibles, one now buys his 'proper' inks through me & the other wants a new printer - says it all for me

Or, forget printing and use Photobox! It IS cheaper
 
I have the i9950 and only use genuine inks. Expensive I know but the previous poster has said it all, Thousands of pounds spent on equipment only to finish the job with cheapo inks..:(

I also have a Canon ip4000 that uses nothing but compatible inks (same ink BTW BCI-6) and had no trouble if you you are printing on a daily basis.:thumbs:

Most of the eBay sellers have inks that will do you fine if thats the route you choose..:)

Hmm not really sure where you got the idea that I spent thousands on my gear! I wish I had the thousands to spend! :( Think we only paid £400 for the printer as well!

I will still use them but as I said, my wife wants to use it for school and I would like to use it now and again as well.

Ok so if the ink is from the same factory, using the same catraiges, and the exact same ink (even has the same part numbers on the cartrages), but just not got Canon packaging, and is 1/5th the price, you still go the canon one? Where is the sense in that?
