simple question, thinking about a grip for my 20D. not necessarily looking at canon branded to save some cash. any brands recommended or to specifically avoid? needs the * button for AI SERVO too.

prices and places would be nice too.. :)

cheers

I use a Phottix on my 40D, does the job. Cost £39 on ebay (etefore)

I recently bought the Ansmann one for my 50d - it is a fixed rechargeable type (as opposed to being a housing to put expensive canon batteries inside) and first impressions are its excellent. It is a little bit "plasticky" in feel but seems sturdy enough. It has the extra buttons too. I am certainly pleased with it. It comes with a car charger lead as well as a mains one, which was a bonus.

BatteryGrip Infrapro allows for vertical shutter release as well as aperture and shutter speed adjustments

SOunds like it does.
