Canon G7X mkII - why no love?

One of the options I'm considering along with the RX100 mkIII and TZ100 is the Canon G7X mkII. I trawled the forum for comments on this camera but other than a couple of posts in the mkI owners forum there's very little.
There's some reviews around suggesting it's a good camera but not much real world info.

What's wrong with this camera that very few seem to buy it? [emoji15]
 
I'd favour the LX100 above all of those because it's got an excellent M4/3 sensor, unless you need the zoom of the TZ100. It's also got the best EVF and 4K video.
 
Thanks; reasons I decided against the LX100 were the lack of flash, and the overall size. I want something pocketable when my D7000 isn't with me. Otherwise I'd say your suggestion would be a good idea.
 
I think that it was hamstrung by the poor reviews of its predecessor (the MkI) which faired well below its peers in several aspects. Perhaps it would have been a bigger success with a new name/number.

Thanks. That makes sense. I have read the less than favorable mkI reviews. A further question... I am reading lots of "out soon" comments around a mk3, the TZ200 etc. I understand there's a photography expo soon. Is it worth waiting until end of March before pulling the trigger to see if the current models drop in price? I've had 2 conflicting views from local shops now...
 
I received a voucher code from Jessop this morning taking the G7X mkII down to £429. Worth pulling the trigger at this price?...
 
G7x is a nice camera a bit bigger than sony. I had a rx100 mki it was great nice picture small and light but it developed a fault switching its self on randomly and draining the battery. The g7x has been faultless so far, the lens is also better than the rx100 mki. £429 is still above grey price.
 
There's a huge number of youtube videos comparing it with Sony Rx100s, though most concentrate more on video performance.
There seems to be a common opinion that it copes better with light changes and backlighting, but is a little slow focusing.
The colours are significantly different with Canon emphasising reds perhaps rather too much.
This is corrected easily enough of course.
Also for video 1080p highest res does't quite cut it now, even if 4K is rarely used in reality.
 
I had the G7x mark I and the RX100-3 and preferred the G7x overall. I preferred the colours and also found the extra reach far more advantageous over the teeny EVF on the RX100-3. I can’t remember the Canon being bigger, if it is it’s a gnats.
 
I went into the shop today, to have a look at the Canon G9X. I came out with the Canon G7X. I too, am pleased with the early results. Little on the heavy side though. Nice jpegs, so far. :)
