You guys know that -6 ev is only achieved with the 3000 quid 50 1.2 right?
Yes.
A hundred and fifty ?![]()
It's good it's just not that amazing because the iso would be through the roof (not a top performer there) and there's no ibis.... Bit of a pointless feature... Like crop 4k and eye af in afs and 3fps. Seems like a lot of headline specs not amounting to much.
Nikon z7 seems better.

You cant charge the camera via usb. i find that useful for my sony as i am able to just travel without the battery charger and just use any usb cable and charger to charge my camera . Also can use a power brick which was very useful when i was camping
I wouldn't call -6 Ev a "feature", just like I don't call shooting a 512,000 ISO a feature, when things are that extreme…it tends to fall apart somewhat.
This release reinforce what I think Canon, they are all about their lenses and it shows it seems they put more effort into their lenses than their body yet again. In a few generations the body would be "good" but the lenses at that point would be unbelievable, and Nikon will still be using F1.8 primes. I always argued it is easier to fix with a single body if that is the only thing that is missing.
Right now, the EOS R is still very new, body isn't on par for what i need so I will pass but the lenses have got off to an amazing start, the 28-70 might be expensive but if it replaces your 35 prime and a 50mm prime, then will look quite reasonable.
They need to put more effort, money and man power to work on their sensor, AF and IBIS though.
Errr but Nikon's unicorn is a 0.95. not 1.8. they're also making an f1.2 50 so I'm not sure you're right there.
It's unicorn is a manual lens.
Canon can probably make a 50/1.0 auto focus if they want…wait, they already have, 20 years ago![]()
Do you think its anywhere near as good as a modern lens?
So you ignored that Nikon's delivering a 50 1.2 af?
Sorry i missed that, but 28-70/2.0, come on, where did that come from !
Is it all that special? Sigma have already done a f1.8 APS-C zoom and a f2 FF one haven't they?

Is that what he said?Wait, you predicted 28-70/2.0 was coming?
When?
YesYou guys know that -6 ev is only achieved with the 3000 quid 50 1.2 right? All mirrorless work to lower ev ratings the faster the lens is.
Yup, I think sigma have released the bravest optics out of anyone recently.
Is that what he said?
Nice pun RaymondIt's unicorn is a manual lens.

Let's not getting into fan boy territory here, the point is the Canon lens line up is much stronger out of the gate and it is clear to me where their focus went.

Messing about,I find that when I come home and plug my camera into my pc by the time I've finished processing and messing about with the pictures the battery is charged![]()
(I forgot about the 24-35/2.0)
Sharpest? Yes.
Largest? Certainly
Best value for money? Definitely.
Bravest? I dunno.
50/1.0 AF is brave, 85/1.2 is brave, 200/1.8 is brave. There isn't anything brave about a 85/1.4 IMO.
How do you define brave in lens design?
Any budget full frame DSLRS around?
Need to read up a bit more about sigma lenses, seems you only remember the 85 1.4
14mm 1.8
16mm 1.4
20 1.4
18-35 1.8
50-100 1.8
135 1.8
105 1.4
24-35 2
Some of those are cropped….which I pay no attention to.
The reason I picked 85/1.4 is not because of the 85mm, more of the 1.4 aperture, the point is…1.4 is the widest that they made. That's my point.
(yes I know FULL WELL they made a 20/1.4 which Canon never made, I have one)
So what happens with the 5DS R current body then? Will current 5DS R owners want to trade-in and move to the new mirrorless body/system me wonders?

Canon hasn't made any of the above.
I dunno why i am arguing, I like Sigma lenses, I think they are very innovative, I just think "brave" is the wrong word. lol
Agreed. The back of the camera looks terrible.
105mm f1.4 hehe(I forgot about the 24-35/2.0)

It's a discussion, not argument.

Replace which primes! If you already have them the Canon EF 35mm f2 IS USM = £499 and Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM = £98! Add the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R for £100.the 28-70 might be expensive but if it replaces your 35 prime and a 50mm prime, then will look quite reasonable.
