OK, so in my film days I used Pentax and Mamiya and didn't even know about this till a year or so back...

Any ideas if this will come back on D-SLR bodies??:D

Not sure about that Anton. I had this function on my EOS5, whilst it was clever i found it a bit gimmicky. I suppose its just as easy to turn the dial to change the focal point.
You raise a good question though.
Dean:)

I really liked this on the EOS3, once you trained it to your eyes it was fab :)

TBH, I didn't spend hours playing with it...about half the time was calibrating it but even on a humble old eos 30 it worked a treat and I could see myself loving it on a d-slr.

Dunno how it would work on a 1D with all those AF points...maybe better suited to 7 or 9 AF points?

Cheers:thumbs:

The eye control, although only operated on 3 points did work a treat especial when composing a moving subject. I've often thought it would be great on a a DSLR but I agree you would have to limit it the points over which it worked, I could live with 7.

I had it on my EOS5. To be honest, with glasses it really didn't work that well, frequently picked the wrong point so I switched it off.

I need to spend some time setting that up on my EOS 5, there are certainly situations where it could be useful.

Some mixed emotions then...

Anyone who has / had an EOS 1V or something similar with eye control?

Cheers

Had two canon EOS50E's at one point, couldn't really fault the autofocus and as Chappers pointed out it was great on moving subjects.
