Only got it today - so not yet - but Kipax said he had used his in a downpour and said it did the job - so thats good enough for me :)

I was caught in an absoloute downpour at northampton today.. my camomac (IN BLACK) kept the 1d and 400 lens bone dry....

its a differernt cover for a 400 lens..but would be interested in your review. How much and where from?
 
I decided to go for a Hydrophobia, easy to use, very well designed, and can swap cards etc without a problem

I have used the hydrophobia from its launch and its fantastic.
 
Have been in contact with the Canon pro rep about the ERC-E4M and have been informed that they wont import the covers to the UK from the States. The only way that it might be possible to purchase any of the official Canon covers in the UK is if the European side of Canon decide that it is relevant to stock them.

Best option so far is E-Bay as Canon USA will not ship to the UK even if you want to buy a box full and pay extra for the shipping :cuckoo:
 
Well guys I returned home from work and there on the table was my Canon ERC-E4M.

It comes packaged in it's own little canon grey pouch, and packs up quite small which is handy for fitting in an already full camera bag :thumbs:.

The material seems quite thin compared to that of my Think Tank Hydrophobia, but nevertheless its waterproof so thats the main thing i guess. The cover is essentially a large piece of waterproof fabric with a handy plastic clear window for seeing the controls on the back of your camera.

The cover comes fitted with an eyecup to fit 1D series camera though a spare one is provided for the smaller cams (5D, 500D etc). The cover has quite a few velcro straps which are used to fasten the cover tightly round the lens hood of (my 300 2.8IS). Must say it fits perfectly and there's plenty of room to get your hands in underneath the cover when operating your cam. Also the cover works well when rotating the lens on the tripod collar so no problems there.

All in all it looks pretty good, obviously I can only really test it when out in the rain, though I'm confident it'll do the job.

i ordered from Ebay from a Hong Kong seller for £48 and it took a week to get here so thumbs up for the service. :thumbs:

used mine yesterday as probably you did too - did job bone dry :)

Stick it on a tripod and set a hose or watering can on it :)

Oops forgot about this thread i started.

Anyway just to update. I used this cover when shooting this game http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=259329

As you can see from pic 7 the rain was pretty bad, in fact it was dying down in that shot:gag: Anyway the cover worked an absolute treat. What I like about it is you can attach it to your lens hood and use the velcro straps to tie up the hood to keep it out of the way. Then when the rain comes just undo the velcro and slide the eyepiece onto your camera and you're ready to shoot. Very quick and efficient :thumbs:
