I have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and EOS utility is not working as it used to and Googling hasn't provided me with any appropriate answers and I am hoping someone on here can assist. All solutions on the internet seem to involve connecting the camera after disconnecting all other USB devices.

I don't download from the camera and I just insert the SD card into my laptop.

With Windows XP and Windows 7, I would insert my SD card, EOS Utility would open and I would be able to download all images that had previously not been downloaded. Now, with Windows 10, when I insert the SD card, a message box pops up stating a new device detected (SD Card) and do I want to scan. At the same time the inbuilt Windows 10 photo app opens, with a message to "Connect a device" and to make sure it's turned on and unlocked. That will not import from the SD card.

I was wondering whether that being a default was causing the EOS Utility problem so I have tried to find out how to disable the Windows 10 photo app from starting automatically, but there is no option in the settings of that program, so maybe there is a way to choose default programs elsewhere in Windows 10.

So, my question is, how do I get the EOS Utility (I have tried both EOS Utilty and EOS Utility 2) to open automatically and download my photos as before. I have been through the EOS Utility settings but that doesn't enable it either.

Problem solved. It was me being stupid and it was Imagebrowser that I've used in the past to download photos, not EOS Utility. Anyway, I solved the problem by selecting it as the default program in control panel for action when a memory card is inserted.
