Canon EOS M Series Cameras

I'm liking the look of the M3, if they add in wired tethering I will be extremely tempted to it. I am not bothered by the lack of an EVF and having a built in flash would be handy for those odd occasions, especially if it can be used to trigger off camera flashes. I am glad to see the tilting LCD as the M is my main digiscoping camera now and the option to easily shot high or low would be helpful.

Wired remote port would definitely not go amiss.

Dear Canon, please just read this wish list from a group of dedicated M users!!

Although Not holding out hope, seeing as a cashback claim I sent in got rejected, reason given was that I hadn't made purchase between required dates, asked them to double check date on invoice and suddenly it was approved, so not holding out much hope with our wish list!!
 
...and while on the subject of wish list, I'd like a feature which permanently disabled the touch screen shutter if the EVF is engaged, otherwise my nose will be taking a lot of pictures!!:thinking::thinking:

I was thinking about this and how the EVF-DC1 (said to be compatible with the M3) works with the GX1. Apparently it dims the LCD when you look through it and similarly the EVF dims when you don't look through it. It makes me think that the additional manual top dials and changes to the rear dial that have been included with the M3 are a necessity to be able to support an EVF effectively. Obviously you can't control these thing from the touchscreen if it gets automatically switched off when using the EVF.

I watched a video on YouTube of the EVF on the G1 X. It has a button on the side that switches the screen off thankfully. It also automatically switched the screen off when an eye was put to the viewfinder.

Hopefully the same on the M3.
 
I have a Panasonic LX-5 and that has a clip on EVF but I have never used it in the 2/3 years I have had the camera.
It does the job but it's fiddly putting it on, makes the camera a lot less pocketable and it just looks weird. To be honest I couldn't even tell you where it is right now.

The shots of it look a little fatter and larger which again would make it a no canon should be making this as small as possible ditch the moving screen and as much bulk/weight as possible!

Good point. Hopefully it's some time early, Tokyo time. That would mean we may even hear later on tonight, or at least first thing tomorrow morning. I've never watched a release so keenly, so I'm not sure how Canon announces things, so don't quote me!

I did think possibly Tokyo time but wasn't sure. Being an Apple user I'm always used to announcements at 6pm uk time lol.

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one following this release intently :)

No idea what time they are likely to officially release specs/cost etc tomorrow, but I'm hoping for more leaks today.

Oh no, I haven't got to go through all that again tonight.

Last night I was waiting for the Pentax announcement regarding the new FF body, 70-200mm 2.8 and 150-450mm 5.6 lenses ... there was a countdown clock on the Pentax forum, it was worse than watching the timer countdown on a Ebay auction you have the highest bid on.

Specs of EOS M3, in addition to the sensor is high pixel seems not find high-spec part is conspicuous. Dual pixel CMOS AF also does not seem to be adopted.

Sensor that grip and that became the 24MP is large, the liquid crystal monitor is compatible to take myself become a vari-angle is, or will have a maximum appeal point of the EOS M3.

The battery is a new model isn't it?

It's the same one mentioned in the 750d/760d specs.

EDIT - Am I right in thinking the sensor size makes it look like a new Canon sensor? ie not Sony?

Well after last nights Pentax announcements I am probably going to lay down the best part of 2k on the new 150-450mm lens so I think a M3 will possibly be a non starter for the foreseeable future.

Saying that I'm happy enough with my M and look forward to some new lenses.

Same here. I'm hoping and praying for a decent 50mm and possibly something longer too. Fingers crossed.

As the M is my only camera I could live with this initial price tag.

I love my M but its a problem not being able to take photo's in sunlight. I love my lenses more.

I agree this would be more than it should be though and I'm a little worried it will be even more. If it is more then I'll seriously have to look at a different cameras I guess.
 
Let's face it Canon rarely delivers attractive launch day pricing but hope to be proven wrong...
 
Knowing what we know about supposed specs etc, what do you think a reasonable price would be, not what we think Canon will do..

£499 would be a decent price point for me personally.
 
£499 is a sensible price, it puts the camera in Sony A6000 territory which IMO is the camera to beat in this category.
Saying that the A6000 has an EVF and flippy screen whereas we will have to pay an extra £200 for the EVF (and it's not as pretty as the Sony).

Cool, which drone did/do you have? I'm a drone flyer too. Shame the M doesn't have a shutter release otherwise I'd be tempted to try it out on one of ours.
