Canon EOS M Series Cameras

My EOS M3 arrived today and I now find the Tamron 18-200 I had with the older EOS M will not focus on my EOS M3 .

I'll let you know if mine works when I get it

Edit: Just seen the posts above....eek!

good you let us know about this . I have the Tamron lens and i was looking forward to using it with the M3 !

Can you not return it Marie?

I bought it on ebay 'used' so its not the sellers fault that it wont work with my camera.
Its due to arrive tomorrow, before the M3
I'll wait a bit to see what tamron/canon come up with.

Good night shots there. I must admit I have never been out at night with a tripod. Must get round to it sometime.

Thanks Alan. I can definitely recommend it! Think I prefer night time shoots to daytime.
Now shopping for ND filters

So.....
waiting for customs charges notification so that I can pay them and hopefully collect M3 on Saturday.
Tamron 18-200 didnt arrive today due to a mix up with collections at sellers local post office but I've been refunded postage and it should arrive tomorrow. Although I can't use it with M3 anyway

The good news is the mount adapter thingy arrived today.

You're more patient than most Marie. As soon as I see the awaiting charges I call parcel force and pay them. You don't need to wait for the letter. My parcels often arrive a day before the letter.

I can't pick up parcel before Saturday due to work commitments Neil. But believe me when I buy something I want it yesterday :p

Managed to get out the office for half an hour today. The 11-22 hasn't been off the M3 since I got it!

Used 3 exposures for the shot below and then used the HDR feature in LR to merge them, seems to work ok!

Nice!

Totally unexpected, My M3 arrived direct from Japan this afternoon. Very pleased with the service as the delivery was indicated as 18-29 May.
Only problem is, it comes with the Japanese LC-E17 charger. Has anyone managed to buy the UK version cheaper than the one on Amazon - (£45)
The installed battery appears to be charged so will have a bit of a play this afternoon.

Can't say that I've bothered to buy another tbh, although it would be convenient. Just found a UK adapter and use that. Voltage input is fine with UK mains as they are a 'worldwide' charger (designed to be used abroad).

I bought this, works fine:

I'll probably buy a pattern UK charger once they're available (along with pattern batteries). Shouldn't be long as the same charger and battery as the 750/760d.

Doesn't the Japanese charger have two prongs that flip out? You can then plug these into a Uk plug adaptor?

That's how the other Japanese Canon chargers are configured.

Hi Jim, Yes, thanks. I worked it out shortly after posting. Quite excited to get the camera today unexpectedly. Just downloaded the handbook and having a read before getting out with it.
Just ordered another wrist strap so that I dont end up dropping it!

That didn't take very long at all to arrive.

Customs letter arrived today. Have paid charges (£25.25 so not too bad) and asked for wednesday delivery as its my next day off.
That's £570 in total for M3+kit lens+EVF.
And mount adapter takes it up to £598 which is one pound less than just camera and kit lens in UK (y)

Question regarding different lens on the M, especially the M3, how does the 40mm stm pancake compare to the 50mm 1.8, for focus speed and quality when used with the EF-M adapter?

I finally have the M3 kit and the 11-22mm lens.
First impressions:
Its a dinky wee system compared with using 5D3 but I love the size. I'm 5 foot nothing with wee hands so its made for me :p
The tamron 18-200mm does not communicate as already confirmed. I hope they fix this soon.
11-22mm is going to be good for landscape.
The EVF is excellent and I wouldn't be without it.

It will take a bit of time to get my head round the settings but as its canon I'm half way there before I start which is good.
Once I start shooting in ernest I'll post some shots up.

I used the 40mm on my M3 at the weekend and I didn't notice and difference in focus speed between that and the 20mm EF-M to be honest. I was only taking portrait shots of my 8 week old baby, so hardly a challenging subject AF wise, but it produced some good results. Great little lens if you already have the adapter (all I use it with really).

Same here, got mine the other day and still wading through the on-line handbook. There seems to be lots of new bells & whistles but the basics are very much the same as usual for Canon.

Having a busy week at work so haven't had chance to go out with it yet.:)
