You should have seen some of my early attempts, crap doesn't come close.
I'm not sure if my photography improved or my use of photoshop TBH

Interesting you referred to Photoshop - I upgraded the Camera RAW element to v.12.3 recently to use and it seems to adjust photos nowhere near as much as previous versions. Perhaps its the 2 new cameras being better, or maybe not I don't know. Which version of Camera RAW are you using ?

I never shoot raw, I use CS5 (mostly) But it is capable of opening Jpegs in ACR v6 ( I've had CS5 for years)
Sometimes I use Affinity, I picked it up while it was on special offer ( half price, I think it cost me £25 and is a very good clone of CS 5)
And Topaz De-noise sometimes too.
Both available as a trial version if you fancy either or

Interesting as I was reading up earlier on PS about stacking, and wondering why it was not an easier option to action

The results are pretty poor IMO even when you get there.
Affinity is very intuitive, even I can use it without the aid of a safety net
I've never tried it, but there are people on here that do use with very good results

Just tried Helicon on a simple sunflower - taking the photos was the hardest bit - but the software merged the images so had a good sharp image throughout in seconds. Just need some way of getting bees and butterflies to stay still for the time it takes me to get all the photos taken

Is in-camera focus stacking available on any of the Canons? It's something I've used quite often on an Olympus OM-D E-M1ii and it works well for hand-held shots of insects if you can catch them during a quiet moment!When you have that cracked let me know

Only the newest, the M6 mk2 has focus stacking so far. Hopefully it will be included as standard on future models, but with Canon you can't take it for granted

I've reached a point where I have far too much invested in Canon to switch,
and TBH to damned old to try a learn a new one.
Having said that they aren't exactly innovators. But this might, just might, be the turning point.
Besides a few years ago, who'd have thought that you would need a cooling fan on a camera,

Call me a bit weird, but I still really enjoy using the original EOS-M despite it's shortcomings and will probably continue to do so until it breaks.
Having said that the M100 has stolen the EF-M 22mm and has become the "Grab n Go" choice most of the time.

I have to admit that I was quite tempted by the EOS R and very nearly hit the buy it now button,
but after looking into it a lot further I'm sticking to the M50 & 100 IS L for Macro
and 7DII for everything else. Its a nice combo IMO
Don't you just hate it when they do that?

LOL, yes it's a real problem deciding which camera to attach my favourite lens to
Yes I keep looking at the R's too and getting tempted, but then put my sensible hat on and manage to resist (so far).
Sometimes the M50 is too much camera for me, which is why I enjoy the M100 so much.
I guess there is a bit of nostalgia here as it reminds me of the days of the wonderful Olympus Trip back in the year dot, probably my favourite camera of all time. With hindsight not the most versatile piece of kit, but a joy to use all the same and the M's with the 22mm lens bring back that feeling.
My wallet thanks me for not specialising in wildlife or macro, that could lead to all sorts expensive temptations

I didn't even think of that, I switch between the two so easily, I forget all about it and don' t even notice the difference.Seems weird when I think about it, but think it might be to do with the lenses. I only tend to use a viewfinder with larger or longer lenses and as I tend more toward wider angles, that could explain it?

Just been trialling the latest Topaz AI denoise on it so have another version of it which brings out a little more detail. Just changed the edit setting

But if I can make a couple of suggestions,
don't try and post images that are potentially noisy as large as possible, as it brings out the noise even more.
Check the white balance, in post processing on the Lemur, and spend a few minutes on processing generally
2 mins with the hunting dog ..
