Hi, Never having had a mirrorless camera and having Canon lenses I was looking at the Canon EOS M to start with however I live where the Sunshine is very bright so it is hard to see the screen on the back of the DSLR or Tablet so anyone like to comment on the EOS M screen in bright light as it does not have a viewfinder.
Thankyou.
Russ

some of the m series do have a finder, would that not be an option for you?

Like most screens, it's pretty difficult to see in bright sunshine.

Hi, Thankyou for the reply and yes the M5 has a viewfinder but also costs in the £600 region:eek:
To hot for me i'm afraid.

There was one on my 7d, it worked brilliantly.
There's some that screw into the tripod bush too, it's got to be worth a shot.

Yes your right if I get M i'll give it a go, could always try super glue;)

Truth be told, I love my little EOS M but it can be a pain in bright sunlight. Sometimes composition turns into more of an aim and pray, most of the time you can see it but it can be difficult, I always managed to get the shot though :)

They are cheap though, and can still produce really nice photographs. They can be had for a little over £100 with the 18-55, and if you've got canon lenses then I would be even more tempted. You'd need to factor in the adapter but you already know that :)

On the original M and the M10, I overcame the screen issue by using a lightweight purple then a black microfiber towel as a shroud, ideal when using a tripod. I also use it handheld too, when needed.

There was a 3rd party 'shroud' available which went over the screen to provide an eyepiece, nevere got one myself.

The towel did the business for me and I still use it for bright days on my M10/M5/M6. It may be psychological but I feel I concentrate on the shot more than the errant light when 'standing off'.

It's not jus sunny days when I use the towel - screen vision can be a problem on any bright day. I aids concentration too.
