Duh ....:bang::bang:I've just realised my mistake ,this lens is an EOS mount ,not compatible for 450D ,right?

This lens will fit your 450d, I used to have one of these and found it soft at anything less than f8 and it wasn't wide enough for me on a crop sensor body as your 450d is. I believe that there is a mkII version of this lens and it is supposed to have better image quality.

I have this lens, have had for about 4 years - love it - very useful all-rounder and handy for a little bit of most things which take your fancy. I got one for my Dad after he tried to borrow mine once too often and I paid around £95 for it so I certainly wouldn't stretch to the buy it now price!

I have the USM II version which is an incredibly good lens considering the size & price. Shame that, as Stephen put it, the wide end really isn't wide enough.

I was definitely not going to buy at the fleabay price ,just feeling the waters just now ,thanks all for your help

This is slightly OT, but how does this (the MKII version) compare with the kit lens for the 450D (18-55mm)? Would it be an upgrade IQ wise?
