This is the version using LR Denoise. 7D2 @ISO16000 taken after sunset.

I just received a Tamron SP 85mm F/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F016) and I have no issues with the sharpness of this combination . . . this is a curved surface (a punch/kick bag) and I focused on the 'circle' in the middle . . . SOOC and brill ! [Edit: The image is way sharper than this upload would suggest, its near enough razor sharp].

I went out tonight with a tripod and my new to me this week TAMRON SP 85mm F/1.8 Di VC USD (F016) and got this very sharp photo . . .

Hi guys, thanks for the add. Wanting to get back into photography in my retirement after many years & I've purchased a 7D and thought I'd check the shutter count. How reliable is the Canon eos digital info app. The reason I ask is, it's telling me it has a shutter count of 1024 which means the camera is basically brand new (it's in mint condition btw). I'm wanting to use it for motorsport, mainly motorcycle racing. I've been given an EF 70-210 f4 but have been told it's a bit slow to focus so thinking that the EFS 55-250 f4-5.6 may be better suited (based on old reviews). I'm going to give it a try tomorrow tho' at Cadwell Park. Wish me luck .

My first decent DSLR was a 7D which was a treat to myself as an upgrade from 450D.
The difference was amazing with fast AF, fast FPS, CF cards are reliable, the large LCD screen, and the build like a tank.
I do remember a Pro tog saying to me why did you buy a camera with hight noise as he points to his 5Diii as the way only sensible choice. I informed him I only paid 1200 squids, and not £3,500 !
I do agree any images over 800 ISO would start to show noise, however I haven't paid £3,500 !

I’ve likely said it before on this thread, but if you’re careful with your exposure technique, the 7d is perfectly usable at high ISO.
Back in the day I shot weddings with a pair, where all the while people were saying it was completely unsuitable, customers were paying me to do so.

I got a 7D in 2012 and really struggled with it, it was a noisy beast. I muddled through for just about 5 years before I was in a position to buy a 5Div. The difference was night and day.

............. but, I will give the 7D one thing, it taught me the importance of getting a good exposure and also, exposing to the right. If done properly, as I found out in the end, a good exposure (nailing it) is everything with the 7D.

While I agree with that, it did depend what you were doing, landscape stuff, long exposures with an ND filter at sunset could be hit or miss as you are talking minute exposures or longer and shadows getting darker gradually during exposure - I really strugged even trying to compensate for the light and over expose you'd sometimes not get what you wanted.

My 7D is my third camera at football, I have owned it for 15 years. It has never missed a beat. Sometimes use it with a 500f4 it just gives some extra reach over the full framed body I also use

Also, some great shots there! Love the one at the party!

If I stand at the end of Isle of Shelley with my 500f4 coupled to the 7D I can make out Southend very clearly across the Thames
