Re the relative sizes of Sony, Canon and Nikon. All the figures below are in billions of Yen. (Currently, 1 billion Yen = £7 million.)

Total sales in the most recent full year published: Sony 7603, Canon 3401, Nikon 749.

Sony breakdown: mobile phones 759, gaming 1650, imaging 580, home entertainment 1039, semiconductors 773, components 195, movies 903, music 648, financial services 1087.
Canon breakdown: office 1808, imaging 1095, industrial and others 498
Nikon breakdown: precision equipment 248, imaging 383, instruments 73, medical 20, other 24

Sony's semiconductors division makes imaging sensors and processors for cameras, but also sensors and stuff for mobile phones, tablets etc. and other things. I can't readily find a breakdown. I think it's likely that Canon's sales of imaging products are larger than Sony's sales of imaging products plus related semiconductors, but probably not by much, maybe 20% or so. Both clearly dwarf Nikon.

In very round numbers, imaging products account for 1/2 of Nikon's sales, 1/3 of Canon's sales, and 1/5 of Sony's "technology" sales (i.e. excluding movies, music and financial services).

Interesting stats.... I will have to buy more Sony GM lenses to boost the numbers :D lol
 
Or even the FE 100-400mm GM (not) owners thread.

A new thread when people actually have camera would be appreciated, however no need to delete the current one, quite entertaining in places.

As a complete aside, was it you that posted a great guide to recovering skies in pp/Lr, is so do you have a link?
 
I know someone who is upgrading 760D and thinking of one. Can anyone comment on build? The 760 is pretty poor. Has scratched easily and the rubber grip feels loose.

I could post some 5d4 pics! But I think lots of camera body specific thread die.

I think we should do what we done on the sony threads and do a canon full frame body thread and a canon crop body thread

I've done a pretty poor tutorial a while back https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/tutorials/luminosity-masks-photoshop-cc.124/

I will do another or update that one and make it clearer.

What I'm happy to do is take any pictures that peoppe have shot brackets for then use that as a specific example on how to create a luminosity mask.

Then you can get away with the 6dii dynamic range :D

Is there a Sony crop thread? I thought it was just you and Riz who broke ranks to start your own A9 thread?

but this is on 20 pages without any owners so hardly dieing is it:D
i think all this banter should be kept out of owners threads as its really hard to find good info in all the crap spoken. i would rather have short but usefull owners threads and seperate general crop/fullframe banter threads. if you actully like this camera there is so much rubbish spoken its hard to find the info in here. in the nikon 750 thread its the same pages of waffle to wade before finding the nuggats of good info.

Not many forum members buying new gear period! Even the 5d4 is a dead thread with only a couple of us with yh and camera. Maybe this forum is mainly fuji and nikon fanboys? Hehe

I was in Jessops in Belfast today and asked to see the 6D MK2. The salesman told me that it was only available for pre-order and the release wasn't until September or OCTOBER!
