Hi all,

I have a frustrating issue with my 350D. Batteries are going flat extremely quickly. Sometimes I can charge3 a battery and try it in the camera and there will be nothing all. eventually after taking the batt out and back in a few times it wil work.

Other times it will show a full battery condition and then if you take a picture it will shut down indicating a flat battery!

I am using after market batteries which could be a problem and have been wandering if the charger might be faulty (unlikely I think)

I have had the camera in for repair for this issue and the DC converter was replaced. Worked fine for a little while but its reverted back.

Any ideas?

weird.
weve had our old 350d for years.
it gets verry little us now as its a standby.
but weve never had a prob.
even with batteries sat for two or threee months over winter, then charged up again, theyve been fine.
for how much they cost, i'd be tempted to buy a couple of new ones any try them out.
or see if you can borrow another charger.
one battery would generaly manage a full day shooting for us.
try one of these? http://www.digital-technic.com/product.php?e_classcode=5&e_brand=UTBGT1QwND0=&e_bid=57700
or these. http://www.battery-force.co.uk/deta...Canon_7.4V_720mAh_Digital_Camera_Battery.html
a quick trawl on google will reveal plenty more.
or a search on the "equipmnet" section of this forum.
mark.

Very doubtful it's the charger. They're relatively simple beasts and there isn't a massive amount that can actually go wrong. I'd lay the blame squarely at the after-market batteries you are using.

Granted, not all third-party products are bad, but very few are as reliable as the genuine article and sometimes it is worth paying the premium. Then again you might just get lucky with the cheap stuff. You just never know.

Not sure what after market batteries are? However I use batteries from 7dayshop for my 350D and have had no problems with them aside from one failing to charge (they replaced it immediately for free). They are £10 for 2 and I can't tell a difference between them and the original Canon battery I have.

i've noticed a problem recently with my 350 batteries, both cannon and 3rd party (2 of each)when used with a battery grip. Fully charged and work ok but loose power quickly. Then battery indicator tells me to change my batteries.Remove battery cartridge reinsert and work fine, then have to repeat again. will have to clean electrical connections,as their can' be much to go wrong. previously no problems with any batteries. :(

Welcome to the forum,
There has been an issue with 3rd party grips, where the batt indicator shows dead batteries, but then shows full when the batteries are taken out and put back in. Heard of it quite a few times.
Dean:)

I know 3rd party batteries vary but I have used them in my 350D for 3 years with no problems at all,as someone else said make sure camera and battery contacts are clean
