I've just looked at Park Cameras, and they're already knocking 30% of their Canon DSLR range.
If i had a 1D 2N i wouldnt bother rushing to upgrade to the Mk3 but as i have a 20D i can see a LOT of things worth upgrading to a MK3 for specially as a 2n was on the cards anyway![]()
sounds fun how grainy can ya go!
Anybody in the market for a 1D would obviously do well to wait for this one, but there's nothing there to tempt me to want to swap my current version. The pixel increase isn't a really significant difference (unless the the Dogic 111 processor makes a substantial difference) and I don't use the 8.5 fps I already have.
Beautifully spec'd camera though.![]()
That price means nothing, when it hits the shops I recon it will be about £2400The UK RRP is £3,049
Now way am I paying that when it's $4k in the US, so i'll pick one up in November when I'm there![]()
I doubt it'll be that low - maybe £2800.That price means nothing, when it hits the shops I recon it will be about £2400
It will depend on demand I'd reckon. I can see a lot of folk going for it and if Canon keep supply tight there's no reason why they won't be able to keep prices at or very near to RRP.That price means nothing, when it hits the shops I recon it will be about £2400
So you don't think that professional photographers (who are frequently standing in the middle of a crowd of photographers/journos) might find it handy when they hold their cameras up in the air to get photos, for example?
And before you ask why that matters to you, it doesn't. The 1-series is aimed at working pros.
My main reason for being impressed with the feature, though, was simply that I read a very well-written, convincing article about how difficult it would be for camera makers to put a "live LCD" (like you get on point'n'shoot digicams) into a DSLR. The article said there were only two ways to do it and both had massive sacrifices. Basically, you either had to black out the viewfinder or sacrifice half the light in order to split the incoming beams between prism and sensor.
So Canon have obviously found a way to do it. I thought that'd be fairly big news and I'm surprised it's not.

I doubt it'll be that low - maybe £2800.
I The Mk2n would have been a bit of a tough call to be honest because of the smaller LCD screen - so this release makes life easier.
The n has the new larger screen.![]()

If it gets to that point I'll miss the 20DIf as I suspect the n gets down to around 1800 quid it's gonna be an absolute steal!![]()

Oh well, if not I'll just have to have myself a MkIII instead won't I!!
Ooh now does it....hmmmm....I wonder if there will still be any about to be had for a bargain price by the winter?!Oh well, if not I'll just have to have myself a MkIII instead won't I!!

LOL. You can't really go wrong can you?![]()

I am quite tempted to get one of these to complement my 5D
Only thing is as Canon don't do international warranties on bodies I'm a bit dubious of getting one abroad
Don't think I've ever pressed the shutter button while the lens is off my camera![]()
looks like I was wrong about holding prices.![]()

This is just commercial stupidity IMO
