Canon EOS 1100D - IS / DC lens?

Hi all,

I've tried to find this out myself but just get more confused. I want to buy my first DSLR and have decided on a Canon EOS 1100D. However, some retailers seem to be selling it with the standard zoom that comes with it (18-55mm) and list it as a DC lens, but some say it comes with an IS lens. I know that means defocus control and imagine stabilisation, but am still none the wiser really! I may have this wrong, but is the IS a Canon lens and the DC a Sigma? If so, is IS the way to go? Sorry to ask such a stupid question but I'm lost!
 
Ive used both lenses and theres not much diffrence i did however hang on to the sigma over the canon others might disagree with this decision

The DC is the non IS version of the Canon 18-55IS lens and is cheaper...

I'd opt for the IS version if you can

IS Version is about £380
Non-IS is about £355-360

£20-25 difference in price, I think most would tend to lean to wards the IS version.
