Really impressed with this lovely little lens! far better than i expected.
Obviously did quite a bit of research, reading online reviews and suchlike and got it for £144, plus getting £50 cashback from Canon too, so even more pleased :)
Apart from using my 70-200mm for a football match, this hasn't been off my 5D/1D since i bought it.
I'm seriously considering selling my Sigma 50mm f1.4!
I'll post a few sample shots, when i log onto my personal laptop...

Its a cool lens, i got one just after they came out. I wanted ot make my 60D (at the time) smaller so it would fit in my suit bag. This worked well and i have no regrets getting it. I also have the 50mm f/1.4 but never seem to have armed to it, its never really knocked me out when used wide or close to wide open.
The only downside i have with my 40mm is the AF is a bit slow on my 5DMKIII in AI Servo mode.

£50 cashback? I thought it was £25.

I knew it was very good optically, or i wouldn't of got one, but i also love it's 'quirkyness'! what i mean is how it looks on gripped 5D3 or my 1D3, really like it's noisy motor (well, noisy compared to a ring USM), very 70's Sci-fi!

the obligatory Christmassy shot;

:) It's a lovely little thing. Overall I still prefer my Sigma 50mm but when I fancy something lighter/smaller/less obtrusive the 40mm never disappoints.

It's a great little lens, gets very good reviews and certainly on my list to try out / purchase.

Looks like you got lucky with the cash back as well :thumbs:
