Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 macro USM lens

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my 50mm portrait lens with a portrait/macro lens and a friend recommended this 60mm macro.

How fast is the focussing on this, and are the pictures sharp?

I almost bought one the other day, but wanted a second opinion - may end up buying second hand.

Focus can be slow(ish) at times but is mostly ok. The pics are VERY sharp. I had this lens quite a while ago, but when I moved over to 1D series stuff it wouldn't fit. It's the one lens I really miss. It's light, reasonably well made, extremely sharp, macro and doubles up nicely for portraits.

You could do a lot worse.
