Canon EF-S 55-250mm Advice Required Please.

Im beginning to really enjoy Sunday footy shoots but feel that i need a
sharper lens.

Im saving for some better glass at the moment but cant help thinking that
maybe i should sell/trade/swap the following for a Canon 55-250 or similar.

I have at the moment...............

Canon Ef 28-80mm, Ef 55-200mm Usm boxed & an Ef 90-300 also boxed.

Ive read good things about the 250 & feel that if i had one, the other
lenses would be redundant.

My current situation will not allow me to buy a 250 & save for better glass
at the same time so any advice would be appreciated.

Why do you feel you need a sharper lens?

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you ruled out technique for soft images? Or autofocus speed.

The 55-250 is a sharper lens, I don't know how it's AF peformance stacks up though. Next step is saving for a 70-300 IS though - that has sharpness and good AF.

I get soft shots with a tripod & cable release

I thought about a 70-300 but thought the 250 maybe a better lens for
the price at the moment while funds are being saved.

If you get soft shots with a tripod & cable release there's something very wrong with that lens or your doing something wrong

Hmmm - i will post some sample shots later.

Perhaps i was wrongly advised that this lens wasnt the sharpest.

I seem to get better football shots with the 200mm.
