Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens with polarising filter = waste of time?

I have a 450D with the standard kit lens as above.

Reading the review of this lens on the Photozone site it states:-
"The front element rotates so using a polarizer is difficult at best."

It sounds from this like it would be a waste of time and/or a lot of effort to use a polarising filter with this lens, so is there an alternative or isnt it as bad as suggested?

any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated
 
It's the same as the 350 kit non IS lens.
Focus the shot.. then turn the polariser while holding the button halfway down holding the focus.
I never find it a problem :)

:agree: Not really an issue unless you have a lens hood attached also

the other thing to note is if you are shooting things at the same focal length it will remain set.

Ive had lenses that rotate and never had an issue with it.
