Canon EF-S 15-85 kit lens for 7D

Hre's a puzzler, for me at any rate. The 15-85 designation of this lens, is that the 'true' size, or being as it is a lens for a 1.6 crop factor camera is it really a 24-136, as a say 24-70 would be on a full frame camera?

Lenses don't change focal lengths. It's the sensor size - hence the field of view you get which changes. See: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=4056233&postcount=7

You're both right. The focal length of the lens is 15-85mm and this doesn't change, however the effect on a 1.6 crop camera is the same as a 24-136mm would be on a full frame camera.
