I have recently just bought a 300d to get me into photography, i like landscapes and scenery shots and interested in buying the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM.

1. Would this lens fit the 300d, im guessing not, do 300d's only fit EF Lens

2. It costs £499 in jessops, would it justify spending that money to put on a 300d.

My thoughts where to buy some decent glass and then upgrade my camera later, Hopefuly to a 40d.

3. Is this Lens good for Landscapes

USM stands for Ultra Sonic Motor, a super fast and quiet autofocu motor. Being extra wide angle it is ideal for all kinds of shots including landscapes.

As far as I am aware the 300D takes EFS and most EF lenses, you just can't use EFS lenses on full frame or film bodies.

£499 seems steep, shop around you'll get a fair chunk off i'm sure.

Also the Sigma 10-20mm is highly regarded and a bit cheaper. It is also available in Canon fit.
 
Yep, there's a reputable seller on fleabay called Kerso (Ian Kerr).

If you email him at 2kerso@gmail.com, he'll give you a price etc. and you'll save loads compared to Jessops. Loads of members have purchased from him and he's very good..

Jessops lens prices have really rocketed over the past 6 months and are probably the most expensive high street retailer for them right now..
 
Thanks for that dolomitefan, i will have a look around for some good deals. Not sure where to look but i will find somewhere.

I will also have a look at the sigma lens which you have suggested.

I take it the 300d isnt full frame?

1 - Both EF and EF-S.

2 - Yes. You've got the right attitude, good glass is never a bad investment.

3 - Most definately.

4- Ultrasonic Motor for autofocus. Quiet and fast.

Now i need to go and find it somwhere other than jessops
 
And wait until tomorrow and there'll be £40 cashback from Canon on the 10-22 from UK retailers!! :D
