Was wondering if this set up would work ok.have a CANON EFS 70-300MM IS USM lens, would fitting a canon extension tube CANON EF 12 11 to the lens allow me some macro close
up photos, realise it would not be 1to1 but will it allow me at least something along the lines of macro. As this extension tube appears retains full auto focus was thinking of utilising
the 70-300mm especially for distance work where you need to stay back from say insects etc.
Have noticed there is a used one about but before pulling the trigger hoped someone would kindly come on board and advise.

GEORGE.

Different lenses take to using extension tubes differently... a 12mm extension tube won't be doing a lot when coupled to a 70-300mm lens, in fact extension tubes do work a lot better with lenses like the nifty 50. You may be better of using a close up lens, so have a look at Raynox, the 250 may be a bit extreme but they also do a 150.

Many thanks Phil must admit never thought about the Raynox will check that out.
Thank you for your input .
GEORGE.
