Hi..
I have a Canon 60D and the DPP program that came with it.
Now all of it works except the Raw mode. I can load the photos on to a 100 Canon and than click onto the DPP and the program loads, once loaded I can click onto an thumbnail of a picture then click tool palette and a pop up comes up with the adjusters on.
There are three. Raw.. RGB.. and NR/Lens ALO the second two work but Raw button dosen't..
The screen comes up and you can see the adjusters but the screen wiil not activate.
Anyone got any ideas to cure this.. or have I missed something?

Cheers

this maybe a real stupid question, but is the camera set to raw, is it CR2 files you're trying to process??

Hi Lizzy..

Its not a stupid question as I dont know as this is the first time I have tried Raw..
What should you do to set the camera to shoot raw as I thought the image does both things raw and jpeg..
But some how I have a feeling that I might be wrong..

Cheers

As above really

Also, have you popped onto Canon Europe web site and downloaded any updates for DPP, zoombrowser etc (wouldn't have thought this will be the cause of problem, but is worth having ther most upto date installed)

Its in the settings your camera can shoot Raw and jpg at the same time, if you set the camera to just raw then try the DPP, have a look at the file extension that will tell you if its raw or jpg

Need to type quicker...

Goto the settings and in image size - alter from L to RAW

Hope this helps...

Menu, image quality (i think) and set to raw, a raw file should download as a CR2 file

Must have a one off camera as I cant find file extention or image size.. :)

Your not in the basic zones are you (dial on top) can't remember 100% but when in the basic zones I don't think you can alter the image size.
Change the dial to Tv or Av and see if it appears in the setting

Morning Guys..
Still cant find anything so I'll try this way..
Press Menu and I have
4 Red squares
2 Blue
3 Olive
1 Orange
1 Green with a star in it.

What colour square should it be in..

Thanks for the help and being patient..
Paul

Just emptied the camera and started from scratch..
For my first shot I put it on AV and took one shot but no difference in the menu ...

:)

1st red = Quality = press set and then adjust as on screen bottom big dial adjusts jpeg top dial adjusts raw setting. Hope that helps Paul.

What Lesley said, or set it to RAW in Quick Menu, by pressing the Quick Control Button.

What's this manual thing you keep going on about Dave

Hmmm. Only seems to have 1 page in it though :-D haha

Morning all..

I/we have solved the problem, the camera was not set in Raw.
What threw me was some said (not on here) that the camera would shoot in Jpeg and raw so I took photos and put them into DPP tried it and it didn't work hence the question, had the person said that you need to programme it in things would have been more understandable to me!! I later found out that you have to set it to raw and jpeg yourself in the menu on the camera but I had already looked in the manual and found nothing on how to set the camera to shoot raw.
Yesterday I went to a camera shop in Malaga and after an hour we/he found the programme in the menu to change the settings, he missed it first time round so I feel a little exonerated!
The camera was set in jpeg only but now is set in jpeg and raw and now I know where it is on the camera it should be easy from now on.
Les was right it was the 1st red box, and you can set the camera to jpeg or raw or jpeg and raw. I will tke a few shots today and try the DPP and it will be alright I think.

So many thanks for all the help and sorry for the late reply but I was stuck in Malaga at the camera shop.
Cheers one and all.
PS I still cant find in the manual where to change from jpeg to raw but at least I know how its done and it should sort the DPP problem out as well.

Its Page 84 in your manual

Had you missed my replies  had you read the thread you could have saved a trip to the camera shop, who dont sound like they know what their on about anyway if it took an hour to find it

I thought that was the problem from your first post,

some good advice but as the OP doesn't know that is camera can shots in just Raw maybe a photo of the camera settings would have helped more

Hi Paul

Glad you managed to sort it out, but as Dave said...

Hi Andy..

I did see the heading but the word Quality threw me...
Setting the Image Recording Mode it would of made more sense, What has quality got to do with it, its the funtion you want..

But with your help I have it sorted so thanks again.

PS.. Just one question.
Is it best to shoot raw on its own or jpeg on its own or is it all right to use them jointly..
Paul. :)

Morning all..

I took my first pictures in raw last night and put them on my pooter in DPP and had a dabble and all is well and it works fine..

Thanks all ..

First hitch..

Edited a photo in raw of a lady and made a portrait of her.. I cropped the photo and saved but when I returned to the main page I have the photo with the white crop box still in the photo.
I repeated the process and the same thing happened.
What have I done wrong..

You need to convert and save, i usually convert them back to Jpeg once i'm happy with the processing, so when you've finished editing

go to File, and then convert and save
