To be honest I've never needed the battery pack for the 580. I've some 2400MaH batteries that seem to go on and on. Got them from Maplin on offer 8 for about £10.00 so I got 2 packs. Only problem is they take about 12-16 hrs to charge ( On a slow charger to get the full load). I don't know how many flashes they give but I've never needed to change them on a job, only after I get back to ensure I've fresh ones in the flashes

7day shop are doing the 2800's for about 4.99 for 4.

Edit: Even cheaper.. 7day shop

I have the battery pack for my 580 mk11, and got it from Kerso
It is worth every penny if doing anything where you need almost instant recharge times - I got it for a wedding, but have also used it at enduro meets where it will keep up with a 30d shooting bursts of 4-5 frames at a time. However, it is a lot of money for what it actually is - some plastic and a cable in a pouch..!

I wonder if there is a Tut for a home made version?? as it is just a pack holding some batteries!! it dont even come with its own battery pack.. it must be fairly easy..
