A new reply from Canon, dated 16/10/08.

Dear Jim,
Thank you for your cashback inquiry. I am showing you have a request in processing. Once it completes processing your cashback will be issued to you.
Regards,

I applied 12/08/08.
Jim

Mmmm...that's the same as I got, but applied for my cash back at start of May.

I contacted the Canon press/media office in the end and the bank transfer was made the following day

They have given me 0800 6226700 but, they say contact Paddyland, 'Where you applied for your cashback', a lot of help!

Very frustrating.
Jim

Jim, call the 0800 number tell them you're fed up trying to get an answer. Ask them to send an email to David Thompson along with your contact details, ref. number etc. saying you're not happy and want some answers. He's the UK Marketing Manager and is ultimately responsible for the promotion. It should generate a response from someone in Ireland who actually knows what's going on.

Seems as if it is always hassle getting these cashback claims processed.

It can't be that hard for an organised department to process the claims.

It took them 3 weeks to send the Cashback to me for my MP210 printer :)

there was a online checker for cashback where is it?

Got my cheque today, I applied for mine at the end of July

I just cant understand Canon at all a friend of mine got his cashback within 2 weeks

Phoned Paddyland 00353 6280308, and they said cheque will be sent today.
Canon UK now doing the cashback as they had problems with the contractor, 9 to 12 months for some people, I was told.
Jim

Received cheque for £45.
Paddyland number came up trumps.

Well, i've just sent yet ANOTHER email.

Not surprised if i don't get a reply, as i went a bit OTT on it.

If i dont get a reply, i'll be phoning at the end of the week.

:D :D :D :D :D

Recieved mine this morning.

two cheques, both cashback claims :D.

I did send them an email last week. And that email included the words 'Don't fob me off, saying that my cashback is processing, like you have the last 3 times of emailing'.

Sent that last week, and got my cheques dated thursday, therefore it was printed/sent on thursday, and i recieved them today...

But they're bank of america cheques.. Wonder if they'll clear...

Looking at the cheque numbers though, it looks like canon printed 400 cheques between the two that i recieved today. one is cheque number like.. 12345, the other 12745 so others waiting may be getting theirs soon :)

I brought my 450d on the 13th Sept & applied for my cashback during the
1st week on Oct.

I never received any confirmation that my application had been received.

I received my cheque this morning :D

I put my claim for 40d cashback on the 15th Sept (I like to live on the edge!) & my £100 cheque arrived yesterday.

I had recieved a couple of e-mails dragging it out in the meantime, so it came as a nice surprise!

Sent mine off about a month ago, haven't even had a confirmation email, so can't even use the online status check.
Does anyone have a number to call to find out whats going on, or do they just pass the buck ?

If you sent it to Paddyland 00353 6280308.

Or Canon for advice 0800 6226700, 01737 220000.

The numbers are on www.saynoto0870.com which is a very good sight for saving money on your phone bills!

It maybe worth giving Canon a ring as this email has been sent to Canon USA customers

"November 17, 2008.

Dear Valued Customer,

This is an official message from Canon U.S.A., Inc.

The third-party rebate processing company that was responsible for processing rebate claims and issuing mail-in rebate checks for Canon-brand printer and video products (along with many other products from a number of other companies) filed a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy petition on Friday, November 14. The funds provided to them by Canon U.S.A., Inc. (and other companies) apparently are no longer available to satisfy the rebate checks such company issued on behalf of Canon and other companies. Regrettably, as a result, you should not cash the rebate check you recently received for such products, as it may bounce. We apologize for any inconvenience, delay or confusion this may cause. We are doing everything in our power to promptly rectify the situation.

Accordingly, we request that you take the following actions:

If you are holding or receive a rebate check for printer or video products which is dated on or before November 14, 2008, please do not cash the check, as it may bounce. Please look for updated postings on the Canon U.S.A. website on or about November 21, 2008 for further instruction on how to exchange your check for a new check that you will be able to cash. If you have not yet mailed in your rebate claim materials, please hold such materials until you receive further instruction. We are making new processing arrangements, with a new mail-in address. Please look for updated postings on the Canon U.S.A. website on or about November 21, 2008 for further instruction on where to mail your rebate claim material and how to exchange your check for a new check that you will be able to cash. Check our website later this week for further instructions and contact information for any questions you may have. Again, please do not cash any rebate checks for printer or video products which are dated on or before November 14, 2008, as they may bounce.

We are committed to ensuring that you receive your rebate as soon as possible and that you will continue to have full confidence in Canon U.S.A., Inc.

We apologize again for any inconvenience.

Sincerely, Canon U.S.A., Inc."

It appears that, in light of a bad situation, Canon USA is being very proactive in taking care of their customers.
