Canon Cash back

The last one I took to the post office, they put the right value postage on and I asked for a free proof of posting slip. That's only useful if you still have a post office.

Can you still claim the cashback in pounds sterling? I can only see euros quoted on the canon website when I get down to the details page, is there a different UK website somewhere that you have to use?

Ah.... in that case it might be worth ringing Canon and asking them what they do in cases like that. I know we had a card put through the door the other day saying that a letter was being held at our local PO because it required and addition 6p postage. The punch line was however that if I wanted it I'd have to go to collect it but it would cost me £1.06 as a £1 handling charge had been added! I assume something similar would happen with any post sent under stamped to Canon (but on a much larger scale of course).

There must me loads like me who just pop a 1st class stamp on the envelope not realising it costs extra to send to Southern Ireland. Pity they had not added an advisory line in the application form about the postage.
I will give it till Wednesday or Thursday as advised and see what they then have to say.

As every barcode is unique if it has gone missing there should be (I hope) no problem processing the claim upon supplying them with the photocopy of the original barcode. That is unless in the unlikely event someone has fraudulently claimed using my original barcode:suspect:.

Does anyone know how this works with purchases from eBay? I'm looking at the 70-300mm IS USM - this one for example:-

This seems like a great price, 50 quid or so less than most places, perhaps they have already claimed the cash back themselves??

I wouldn't say that was a great price, look at this and consider you are buying from a kosha shop without the risks from ebay. http://camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod60.html

but having said that you would get an even better deal from good old genuine Kerso.

I agree Mal, there must be loads like you who've simply plonked a 1st class stamp on it and dropped it in the post box - I was going to do exactly the same thing originally. Also I can't see there will be any risk of you not getting your Cashback - it just may not be as straight forward as it could have been :)

Thats why I took it to the post office, I wasn't too sure if it was enough postage (I never do understand the Ireland thing in situations like this).
She said its Southern Ireland, so it needs to go Airmail, which was about 60p I think.

Great link, thanks. I meant it would be a great price if you could get 40 cashback off their price of 310 - the best price I had seen on the net was 350. But Martins cameras at 320 is great :-) and as you point out, a reputable (I think!) supplier and I can def get cashback.

you need to get the envelope weighted and some form of sticker put on it or it will not get there, according to my local post office.

Can't imagine It will just "not get there" what do they do with such mail? discard it? surely they have a duty to either send it on at cost to the recipient or return it to the sender. My address is in there so I will expect it to be returned to me at the very least.

The price you quote of £310 is the starting price, there is no guarantee you would get it for that price anyway, and they want an exorbitant £20 for postage, Martins is £8.95.
BUT as I pointed out you must give Kerso a chance, I bought the 70-300 IS off him and successfully claimed cashback only that time I sent it special delivery:(

Just to keep you updated on my claim, I rang this morning and the chap at the other end could not be more helpful asking me to either fax, email,or send further copies of the receipts and barcode to him personally so he can give it priority. That's Canon cutsomer services for you.:):):)

Sounds promising Mal. Hope this gut gets it all sorted for you. As a matter of interest my Cashback cheques arrived in the post this morning (from the Netherlands!), so that's about 19 days since I posted them off.

Guy at canon customer help desk told me the reason I haven't got my cheque is they only send one to any address no matter how many items you buy on cashback. Having bought 2 cameras for 2 people I find this very underhand as nobody told I would only get 1 payment.:bang:

Well all I can say is I posted two separate claims for Cashback off to Canon towards the end of November and have today received two cheques - one cheque covered the cashback for a lens and a body (not a kit) and the other just for a lens - so that's three cashback claims all paid to the same person at the same address. I posted the claims in two separate envelopes and recieved the cheques in two separate envelopes (and recieved two separate email notifications).

I opted for bank transfer.
I rang again to get the fax no. and he said he would give me a ring as soon as it was faxed through and then he would process it immediately.

I would check their full terms and conditions, I do not recall reading anything stating only one claim per household, bit naughty if it is well hidden in there.

Today I faxed my copies of the application that went AWOL and the guy rang me back on my mobile confirming he had received them!!
Great service:clap:

Absolute fantastic after sales service!!!

Sent the bits of got an email week ago sayin should be with you within 20 days, just checked on the status website and its says it was sent to my account on the 4th December!!

Not gone in yet but does take a few working days

Can you not ring them and ask them to change the address say your sister/ mother bought the camera but they asked you to claim for them as they didnt know what they were doing!

The fact that I have had three cashbacks sent addressed to me at my home address makes a mockery of this issue anyway. Canon are obviously quite happy to award multiple cashbacks.

Where did you guys put the pully off sticky barcode that you send off, stick it to the form? it is the top one right with xxxxxx[XX] and so on on?

It's the one that has the serial number of the item you're claiming cashback for - and yes, it's always been the top one on my boxes. I stuck my labels to a separate plain piece of paper but I don't suppose it matters that much where you stick it providing it's going to be easily seen.

Yeah, but from what I read you've recovered well Mal ;)

As soon as my 40D and 24-70L from Kerso arrive, I'll be claiming mine! Although I guess there'll be a huge Christmas/End of Promotion rush!

still awaiting my £65 for my 30D from months ago, crappy canon as usual!!

That will be the previous promotion, did you chase it up at the time?, might be a bit late retrieving it now but I would still give it a go, only takes a phone call.

Got my cashback for my 70-200 f4 L paid into my bank account yesterday and showing on statement today! The system works, I do love it when a plan comes together :woot:

After all I have gone through to get my cash-back it has not been credited to my bank account in the promised time scale and the ID code they gave me was not recognised on their site:(, (strangely, neither was the last one in the previous promotion) I followed the link to their customer services and filled in details of my claim on the form.

A little heads up.

I was missing a payment on the previous promo on my purchase of a 24-70L. It took a bit of time but finally I was given a number for the Canon Promotions dept. It is 0845 084 8978.

I spoke to a guy and explained the situation. Telling him I had been waiting and had not got the confirmation letter or money. He asked me to fax the invoice to him with a cover letter. After I faxed it to him I called to confirm he got it and within 21 days I had the money sent to my account.

Speak to them first before faxing anything over, and if possible fax it to the attention of the person you spoke to. I would still try and claim from the previous promo. You have nothing to lose.

I have now had 5 cashbacks on different items all to the same address, including 2 580 ex flash units, and all from Ian (Kerso) so no probs there. BUt I always send each claim ina separate envelope.

I was only mentioning that the ID code was not recognised in the previous promotion, same as this one, I still received my cashback then and on time.:)

I think ruralscotland mentioned he was still waiting for his cashback :) Also, with the current promo i think the number might come in useful.

i sent my cashback form in on the 18th of dec and it didnt arrive in ireland till the 2nd of jan! I guess the xmas post monsters have been looking after it.

Goes to show how much the royal mail differs in delivery. I sent my claim on the 21/12/07 and they recieved it in Ireland on the 31st.

I got my e-mail yesterday saying they have received it etc. How long does it take from now before i get the money back?
