When you take your Canon body into CPS centre for servicing what exactly does it get done? Obviously mine needs sensor cleaning but is there any more to it? Do they clean the dust shake filter (if there is such a thing), relubricate everything etc? I just wondered if there is a good reason to pay extra to get it done at Canon.

P.S. for some reason I wasn't very successful cleaning it myself. The sensor appears to be very oily and tends to smear and therefore that body has been lately only used for wildlife.

Oily. Needs a wet clean. Any decent camera shop can do it. If you use too much fluid it can leave smear marks and do it in a clean dust free room otherwise it can be worse.

If it only needs a clean just take it to a camera shop and pay the £40 if you don't want to do it yourself.
