Canon cable release 1ds mk3

Does anyone know of an alternative replacement for this cable release, as I have gone through several of these now, the damage is were the cable goes into the plug that joins to the camera body, the cable joint fails.
I shoot nearly always on tripod, hence I don't always remove it from the body. I would also like it to be shorter.

Any ideas ?
