Hi all, I recently bought a second hand BG-E11 to use on my 5DIII. I've connected it to the camera and turned the on/off switch to on, but I only have AF control from the button, it doesn't fire the shutter. I've checked through the menu on the camera but I can't see anything that would turn this off. I'm probably being a bit thick, so is there something on the camera that I have to change so I can use the shutter from the grips button?

Sadly I think there is, the grip :(
Sounds like a faulty one to me...

Sounds like a duffer. I've used various grips on various bodies over the years and never had to alter any camera setting to get them to work.

It could also be the body.....a dirty contact pad where the pins of the grip connect.

Okay thanks, I will clean the contacts tonight and try again, then if that fails I'll contact the seller.

Also try resetting all the cameras settings if you feel like doing that.

And 10 points go to Bob.

The grip didn't have a box so was wrapped up in bubble wrap. It seems a bit was caught on the pins, once removed the grip works perfectly. Thanks!

Excellent outcome considering the alternative lol, first principals/occams razor wins again.
