Canon bargains at Focus today - 1D3 £1500!

A few deals caught my eye at the Focus show today (Mon 8th). Jacobs are doing:

5D2 with 24-105L kit for £2157 - bargain!
7D body for £1159 - pretty damn good
1D3 bodies refurbed for £1500 - bite their flippin hand off! :eek:

They have quite a stack of 1D3 bodies, all boxed and complete, and 'refurbished' which apparently means they are ex-display or customer returns for some reason. Girl said every camera they have sold so far looked absolutely like new, checked and tested by Canon UK, and sold with full 12 months warranty. I didn't actually see one for myself though.

These are just the deals I particularly noticed. Prices from memory but within a couple of quid. People were lining up to buy lenses so presumably good prices on those too :thumbs:

Focus is on tomorrow and Weds, at the NEC. £10 to get in.

Edit: I don't know if these were 'one day only' prices, but they had plenty left at 4pm today (Monday). Best check first ;)
 
Got a 7D Yesterday for 1149 from Jacobs :p (After getting a refund from them...they originally charged me 1229 in the morning, then cut their prices when they (and I) realised that CameraWorld were doing them for 1149.
 
I picked up a 50D + 17-85 IS kit for £729

The cabinet was still well stocked when I left at about 4:30
 
Ahh gutted, I would've picked up the 5D2 at that price, how annoying!

I bought a 5D2 kit two weeks ago for £2350 at Calumet. I was pretty pleased with the deal at the time... :(

But the way the pound is moving at the moment these prices are not going to get any lower. Are they? That's what I thought two weeks ago :lol:
 
I have noticed 1d3 prices seem to be qutie low in a few different places, the above deal at jacobs, ebay and mpb i think was there any issues with this particular 1 series?

Yes there was! It was famously the subject of AF problems, as pointed out at great length by Rob Galbraith http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=7-8740-9068 Canon went to great lengths to fix it, including a recall and firmware updates, which presumably any officially refurbed cameras would have benefited from.

I'm pretty sure these cameras are actually as good as a 1D3 gets, being double-tested and calibrated so to speak.

While the 1D3 certainly has some AF weaknesses, I think the jury's out on just how significant they are. Bad enough for some professionals to switch to Nikon on one hand, and on the other hand the majority of users never had a problem at all.

At the end of the day it's a 'good as new' 1D3 at about half price. Way I look at it is that's worth a punt :)
 
Thanks for the link Richard, i do remember the recall now you have mentioned it. I would agree its a good price, now just got to find £1500.!!

Only want the lens, might get one of these and sell the body, might still be a good deal as the Lens alone is over £900.

Anyone want a mint 5D11 for £1500? :)

Wouldn't that be a new body?.. I am seriously thinking about getting either a 5DII or a 7D just as soon as my car sells...

Sure would, 2nd hand to everyone else though.

Am going tomorrow but probably won`t be any at that price anyway.
 
Been and gone and done it.

Had some more thoughts since though.

Already had a S/H 5D11 and a 5D as back up, now have to decide whether to sell new 5D11, older 5D11 OR 5D.

Decisions, decisions...... :)

I did....looks like new....can't wait to play now!!:):)
OH got the refurb 7D from them at £999....so he's happy too!

Errr....now we are very very broke though:(

Anyone lend me 20p for a cuppa?;)
