Canon AE-1 repair - help please

i have a favorite Canon AE-1 ------ but after 3 years of storage.........

the film take-up spool is very stiff
it will only just rotate with thumb pressure

the advance lever works, cocks shutter, which fires OK
but the spool does not rotate

anybody recommend a good Canon film repair shop/specialist...?

maybe needs seals too..?...thanks

Don't know about specific canon repair specialists but Miles Whitehead does repairs to most makes / models.

If you drop him an email explaining the problems, he'll be honest enough to tell you wether it's financially viable for repair or not.

Oh yes, it was the main police lockup for drunks and the like who were due in court the next morning. Apparently it is now going to be a luxury hotel after conversion. I think the rooms will be very small, probably cell sized.

My dad spent many years behind those doors (in uniform not a stripy suit!) and 'encouraged' lots of undesirables to stay the night :0)
