canon 90-300mm usm

It's an old lens and it wasn't a very good one to start with. If it's cheap and it's this lens or no lens then it might be a good buy but there are probably better alternatives. Whats your budget and intended use?

well ive just searched they still sell it new at about £150 i havent got much of a budget because im new to the scene i just bought for £60

You'll probably get that back if/when you sell it so no great loss anyway.

IQ it's pretty soft especially over 200mm. Better than the 75-300 though.

You should be able to pick one up for less than £150. I had one for a while and it was hard work to get really sharp shots with.
