I am looking to buy a canon 85mm f1.8, i had placed an order with a company online who were showing it for £249, but typically once i placed my order they now say its out of stock.
Its a real shame because i wanted to use it for my daughters first birthday on the 15 June.
Anyone know of somewhere else worth buying from ???
 
To be honest unless it's second hand, I'd say that prices is TOO good. If you look around you won't find any prices near that. I was having a look for that lens yesterday. I almost managed to convince myself I needed it :D

I did think it was a good price for sure and they cant say when it will be back in stock i now need to check my credit card has been refunded.
I might even look at the sigma version, and like you i have convinced myself i need this lens :)
 
It is a very nice lens, no question about it. Just that I've got the 70-200 and a 105, so unless I'm doing something specific I don't think I could justify it. Plus I've got a VOX AC15 amp to save up for :D

Ive got the 70-200 too and love the lens but the weight and fact its only f2.8 edged me towards the 85mm
 
If you don't mind buying second hand, they come up relatively regularly in the for sale canon forum on here, it's where I got mine.
 
That is the lens that is mostly on my camera I specialise in portraits which it is perfect for hope you get it soon you will love it

Nice one thanks for that i have now placed an order and hope to get it soon,im sure i will have a bit of fun with this lens and actually having to walk backwards and forwards instead of zooming :)
 
Lol I was the same found it strange having to move my body but now when I have a zoom lens on I still move my body
 
Cant beleive my luck having placed the order and being told delivery was going to be 2-4 days after sending them a message to find out why there is a delay they now say they are out of stock til July :(

Cant say i have ever ordered from jessops as ive always found them too expensive compared with other places, but i feel really let down as i had 2 birthdays to go to this week one being my daughters 1st and the other my brother in laws daughters 1st and i was hoping to use the lens then.
Im sure its not hard to show stock when ordering to give the customer the chance to order elsewhere if needed.
 
It gets even better today I have received a message saying they are temporally shutting down due to staff and all orders are cancelled.
Is this company for real? It always sets my alarm bells ringing if things like this happens.
Anyway anyone one thinking of ordering from camerbox just don't bother save your money and time and buy elsewhere.:bang:
