Its great for that sort of pic taking, it can get noisy but a bit of PP sorts that out.

I bought one a few months ago and not regretting it one bit,

Oh and check out this thread for some great advice and info.

A lot of people are saying save some money and get the 70D but I cannot comment on that as I do not have one

I've just traded in my 7D for a new 70D and couldn't be happier. I'm getting good clean shots at ISO3200 whereas with the 7D I had I was struggling at over ISO800 and anything over ISO1600 was practically unuseable. As I said though, that was with the 7D that I had and not all 7D's seem the same. It's worth looking into the noise issue if you're after a 7D though.

The 70D on the other hand I am really pleased with. I'm getting some great quality shots with it. It's got a great set of features though and is more than favourable, at least to me, than the 7D. The only things I can think off that the 7D is better than the 70D is the 1 extra fps and the 7D has spot focussing, ideal for birds in trees etc, whereas the 70D doesn't. If you can get by without those 2 features you may well be better of with the 70D.

Having said all that, the 7D is capable of taking some excellent shots. It's very well put together camera and connected to some good glass will give you some great results.

Had my 7D for over 2 years now, I love it!

Does everything I need it to do and I don't really have any justification/need to upgrade right now.

I use it with a 100-400mm L for sports photography (Cricket, Rugby & Football) and occasionally animal parks/zoos.

Provided you get your settings right, you can get perfectly usable pictures at ISO3200 if you add some noise reduction in PP.

For any party/event/portrait work I use it with a Canon 15-85mm, works well too :)

Hi Russ77,

how do you find the 7D with the 100-400 for reach when shooting cricket?

I'm currently using a 30D & 100-400 but this year find having some reach issues, so looking at a 7D to help e.g. via cropping but using the pixel increase of the 7D to keep image quality

Hi all have made mind up and getting the 7d thanks for all your help on this an going to get it from Panamoz with 2 Year UK Warranty for £648.85 semmms a good deal to me
thanks
Steve

Stevewrx, when you receive the camera could you please have a look at the description and value of the item for customs purposes. A lot of people on here have bought from Panamoz, including me on a few occasions, and a few on here keep going on about Tax Evasion and customs duty not being paid and the parcel is mis-described.

It would be interesting to find out what your parcel says. I've had 2 parcels from them that have been properly labelled (described as camera accessory and correct value) and 2 that I never checked. If you don't want to post on here what it says please feel free to PM me. I can assure you I'm not connected to customs, tax office or Panamoz, it's just out of interest.

Check out this thred http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=499563 to see how heated some people get while others are level headed about it.

Hi modchild yeah will let you know what it says but I have ordered rom them before and all the description and value of the item were ok

The 7D is a very good camera but be prepared to do a bit of learning. The a/f system is quite sophisticated and it did take me a while to get my head around it.
