Hi guys,
just going through some pics from a trip to Croatia last week...
Ignoring the fact that this example photo is blurred (long exposure with wind movement :| )
But I'm pretty worried to see the image peppered with spots - either red, blue or a couple of white.

I've check some other 'dark' photo's and the spots are in the same place on the other images. - I can't seem to spot them in 'light' photo's?!

Does this point to a sensor problem?

Hot pixels, a side effect of long exposures where the sensor reads a false value of light due to leakage currents caused by the heat of the sensor.
They are nothing to worry about, your sensor is fine unless you are getting big clumps of them.

There's tutorials for dealing with them using DPP on the Canon website - sorry I don't have a link.

I didn't have a tripod, so it was balanced on a chair on a table :D
Good point about the noise reduction, I do actually usually have it switched on, but switched it off trying to see if I could sharpen up the image out of the camera (ironically!), I hadn't actually appreciated how effective it is!

If its still within warranty send it back to Canon, they will either change the sensor or remap it.

I got a factory refurb 1d3 that had over 120 blobby, they remapped it for me, no signs of hot pixels now. I did the same with my 5d2 which was about as bad as yours, they replaced the sensor on that.

Some people have reported success in re-mapping the sensor themselves. Here's an explanation - LINK. Never seemed to work on any of the cameras I've tried it on.
