Canon 7D RAW Question

Hi,

I am very close to making the big step from my Canon 400D to a 7D

My favourite PP weapon of choice is Lightroom. But currently I have LR 1.x.

My understanding is the Adobe Camera Raw version that supports 7D raw is not compatible with LR 1.x - I need 2.x.

One solution (until I can afford the LR upgrade) is to use the free Adobe DNG converter and then import into LR, until I can afford the upgrade.

Is my understanding correct?

That would work, but LR2 upgrade is only about £85iirc

Yes it does work (friend had same problem when the camera came out) Hope you enjoy the new camera will be a big difference from your 400D. I would also recommend the LR upgraded as LR2 added so much

I will do the LR2 upgrade soon prolly next month - just trying to limit the expenditure at this moment in time!

The LR Version 3 beta is out at the moment.... I wonder when it will be released and whether it is worth holding off until then?

It's out now. I'm installing it at this very moment.

Apple and Adobe both released updates this week for the 7D and other new cameras.

Give DxO 6 a try, it supports the 7D in version 6.1 and you can download a free trial
