canon 7D raw images in photoshop CS3 ??

I'm stuck on this one, just got myself a canon 7D (wonderful machine!!) but i cant get the RAW images to open in CS3, i can get them open in Lightroom 2.7 but i prefer photoshop for RAWs

Anyone got a solution to my problem? I've googled it and there seems to be a few old chats around various sites about this problem but i cant find a solution.

Other than that the camera is wonderful, my first tests to see what it would do at night hand held, high ISO and all that

ISO 3200 1/40 f5 - 7D 50mm (canon 50mm1:8)

I think your options are;

1. Convert your 7D RAW files to DNG files which will allow you to use the Adobe Camera Raw compatible with CS3 using the Adobe DNG Converter..

2. Upgrade to at least CS4 with is the earliest version which has a version of ACR able to be used that is compatible with the 7D

3. Use the Canon RAW software (DPP I think)that you presumably got with your camera.

4. Find another RAW converter program. Maybe Rawshooter Essentials or RAWtherapee which are both free. You have to research whether they were compatible with you 7D though. If you're a Mac user they may not be an option.

There may be other options, but I can't think of anything at the moment. :shrug:

Hopefully you get get something out of the above.
 
Yep, convert to DNG and your problem goes away - plus it'll work with future LR/CS releases and future camera RAW versions.

I cannot understand why you would prefer CS3 to LR2.7 as ACR in CS3 does not have as many options/tools for superior raw conversion as in LR2 .
