Yes
does anyone know if canon makes an lcd protector for the 7d?

I doubt if Canon do but have a search on ebay etc for ggs screen protectors, they are easy to stick on and remove and are made from hard plastic.

Yes they do make one. It's attached to the camera, in front of the LCD, when it's brand new. If it scratches, you can get a spare and they're not horribly expensive.

is this the film which u normally peel away?

I got some film type protectors £2 for 6, just cut to size peel of the backing and press it onto the screen, its not got adhesive, it just sticks on

Just had a look it just says Digital LCD screen protector universal, with no makers name its like this Clicky Linky its not that exact product, I got mine from my local camera shop

i chopped up a iphone HD anti glare protector and stuck it on.
works a treat. but it does leave a thin area uncovered on the top and bottom.

Get the GGS glass one for the rear LCD, had one on my 500D ever since I got it without issue at all, nice and clear as well as hard protection from minor knocks.

The best suggestion yet.

The 7D LCDs are made from toughened glass that will take far more abuse than any cheapo 'protector' that you put on them. To be blunt, they are a sales gimmick.

If you use the LCD properly to check exposure and focus then you want the best possible image to look at. A piece of clingfilm stuck over the top isn't going to improve that.

It's a bit like putting a £10 filter on a £1,000 lens.

In the 3 and a bit years I've owned my 400D, the LCD screen is completely unscratched.

Definitely wont be bothering with any screen protector for my 7D

Is this still poss with the 7D, I know some of the older models it seemed a fairly easy replacement ?

I'm sure I read they had altered the protection screen and there was no longer a gap behind, improving the LCD screen, but now not making it possible to change the front protection cover yourself ??
