Yes
C1, C2 and C3 dials on the 7D

What saved settings have you programmed and what do you use them for?

I do a lot of birds and dragonflies in flight so have set C1 to Manual metering, 1/1000 sec @ f5.6, auto ISO, AF servo, hi-speed drive, focus tracking slow, and AF expansion. C2 is the same except, AF tracking is set to fast just in case I need to flip quickly for fast moving subjects.

I think I better invest some valuable time in the 7D manual tbh.

C1 1/50, 2.8, iso 200 for filming
C2 1/250, f11, iso 100, ai servo for macro with flash
C3 1/250, f9, iso 100, ai servo, zone af. Presumably set this for something moving in good light but can't remember what it was :D

Not a 7D but my 5D3 has the same C1,2,3 settings;

C1 1/30th, F13, ISO100, mirror lockup, one shot focus - for landscapes on tripod
C2 Bulb, F13, mirror lockup one shot focus - for long exposures
C3 1/30th, F13, 5 shot bracket, mirror lockup, one shot focus - for HDR

Bit of a novice, so can you talk me through setting up a 5 shot bracket on the custom button for HDR?
(Looking to get the 7D in the next few days)

Many thanks

Hi James,

I set up the camera in manual exposure mode, then into the menu, C.Fn1, set number of bracketed shots to 5, then into Shoot2 and Expo.comp./AEB and set it to about 3 stops over and under, then go into Set Up4 and Custom Shooting Mode and Register Settings.

I don't know if 7D menus are similarly named or laid out but I am sure it will be pretty similar.

Thanks Mark

Should be getting the 7D in the next few days so looking forward to experimenting

C2 is the same except, AF tracking is set to fast just in case I need to flip quickly for fast moving subjects.

It's better to have tracking set to slow for fast moving subjects, the AF tracking setting has no effect on how fast focus is acquired.
