Hi guys & gals,

Have seen the above at a cheap price but the auto focus doesnt work.

Apparently the seller has been quoted £90 for repair.

Would you consider buying this lens if it was cheap enough & if so,does
anyone know of any places that could repair it cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

You can get one of these in excellent second hand condition for less than £90, certainly £90 tops. I wouldnt touch it with a bargepole.

Do an ebay search and there will be a few nice examples available.

Thanks for the advice - i had my doubts hence the question

If you're not too fussed about image stabilisation, the slightly older 100-300mm lens is far superior and similar money. Its USM (the ring type) so you get full time manual focus, lightning fast focussing and better built than this one. Image quality is better too but you dont get the 75-100 bit of the reach obviously.

I tried both, no contest in my book for similar money.

i saw the same and was tempted but kept looking at you can get a full working one for not much more money so left it alone

Thanks for the replies - i let it go in the end

Im now thinking about an extender for my 55-200 - would this be
a better option?

yes, the 75-300 is probably one of the worst Canon lenses TBH.

Does the extender work on the 55-200?

FWIW I have a Canon 75-300 for sale in the forsale section on here...
