I see this morning on both Jessops and John Lewis websites that the price of the Canon 70D (body only) has now dropped to £999. This is still a good £250 more than the same item (albeit grey imports probably) offerred by the likes of Simply Electronics who have it at £739. Is the (UK) price likely to drop further before Christmas or is it worthwhile getting one of the so-called grey imports?

The prices will continue to drop, esp around Xmas when people are more likely to buy a camera. I wonder if canon will offer a discount in their winter cashback scheme?

....There's a Canon discount scheme which ends 31st October (tomorrow!) but the relatively new 70D isn't on the list.

When does a 'winter cashback scheme' usually start?

I wouldn't touch any grey imports - You simply don't get the support if/when you might need it and so not worth the saving in my opinion.

how long is the warranty? 1 or 2 years? You think this camera would cost you £260 in repairs in the first 1/2 years?
